
Karnataka Businessman Jailed For Rs. 7.35 Crore Tax Default

The Income-Tax department arrested and jailed a Karnataka businessman for defaulting on paying Rs.7.35 crore as income tax arrears and interest despite reminders, an official said today. "The defaulter was arrested and produced before the Tax Recovery Officer, and sent to the city central jail for six months for failing to pay his tax arrears," said the department in a statement in Bengaluru.

Gujarat third highest in H1N1 cases in India

Gujarat has reported the third highest number of swine flu cases and the second highest of deaths in the country till February 10 this year. Gujarat has reported 1,431 swine flu cases and 55 deaths in 46 days. Most of these cases have been registered at public hospitals or public health centres.

48 Countries Extend Support to India After Pulwama Terror Attack

As many as 48 countries extended support to India and condemned the Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan-based terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the attack which was carried out on Thursday, killing at least 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.
