Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury hit out at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha describing its leaders as "fake Hindus" and accused the government of "trying to shut the voices of people through bullets." Mr Chowdhury's remarks came amid protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and three firing incidents in Delhi's Shaheen Bagh and Jamia area.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear multiple challenges to the electoral bond scheme ahead of the Delhi polls on February 8, despite stiff opposition from the Election Commission on hearing the case amid poll process. Despite RBI and EC objections, the government has been using the window before every assembly polls to 'funnel benami and illicit funds', he alleged.
