7 Fishermen Missing In Kerala As Heavy Rains Lash State

Seven fishermen are missing and relief camps have been opened in two districts as heavy rains lashed several-parts of Kerala for the second-day under the influence of the southwest-monsoon. A Red-alert was issued in Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram and Kannur districts with over 20-cm rains being forecast from July 19-22, while the northernmost Kasaragod-district will come under the alert on Saturday, according to IMD.

Amid a row over the entry of women of menstrual age into the Sabarimala temple, Union Minister Smriti Irani said on Friday that religious practices should be "respected" and anyone breaching them just to "make headlines" would do a great disservice to the country's diversity. "It is the responsibility of the people to respect others' faith," Smriti Irani said.
Sabarimala Order Review Petitions To Be Heard From February 6: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has decided to begin hearing the Sabarimala case from next week. A batch of about 48 review petitions challenging the top court's September verdict allowing women of reproductive age into the Sabarimala temple will be considered, the top court said. A five-judge constitution bench led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi will start hearing the case from February 6 onwards.
