Proposal Cleared To Buy 10 Lakh ''Made In India'' Hand Grenades For Army

Defence Ministry cleared a major project for the Indian Army for the acquisition of 10 lakh ''Made in India'' multi-mode hand grenades, sources said. The new hand grenades will replace the existing inventory, HE-36 grenades manufactured by the Ordnance Factory Board. The multi-mode grenades have been developed by the DRDO and a production agency has been selected to manufacture them in large numbers.

The PMO has asked government departments and public-sector-units to avoid choosing foreign products and brands at a time when the government is trying to boost domestic manufacturing through PM Modi's flagship 'Make in India' programme launched at start of his tenure. "Our concern is Make in India," Misra told ET. "We want progressive, continuous increase of indigenous components in products procured by us. "
Govt Mandates Preference To India-Made Vehicles In Public Procurement

The government has mandated preference to be given to domestically-manufactured vehicles with minimum 65% local content in public procurement of automobiles. The move seeks to encourage 'Make in India' and promote local goods and services. This applies to automobiles based on internal combustion engines including two- and three-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles.
