Mumbai's Aarey Area Is Government Land, Not Forest: Devendra Fadnavis

Amid protests against the proposed felling of trees in Mumbai's Aarey Colony to make way for a Metro-car shed, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said it is the government's land which does not fall under a forest area. Fadnavis said the SC has already clarified that the land does not come under forest or bio-diversity and said such permission (for Metro-car shed) can be given.
Western Naval Command Deploys 8 Flood Rescue Teams For Assistance

In the wake of floods caused by incessant-rains in Mumbai and adjoining areas and the request received by the Central-Railways the Western Naval Command of Indian-Navy deployed eight-flood rescue teams for the relief efforts in the region. "Meanwhile, a helicopter has also been scrambled with divers equipped with auto-inflatable-craft for deployment in the area as advance assessment party," a release by the Western-navy-Command said.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Orders Probe Into Pune Wall Collapse

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered an in-depth inquiry into the incident of wall collapse in Pune, in which 15 people were killed. "Extremely saddened to know about loss of lives in the Kondhwa, Pune wall collapse incident. My deepest condolences to the families and praying for speedy recovery of the injured. Directed Pune Collector to conduct an in-depth enquiry," Mr Fadnavis said.
