Consortiums can set up medical colleges

The Medical Council of India-Board of Governors (MCI-BoG) has notified amendments to the Establishment of Medical College Regulations, 1999, that will allow a consortium to apply for the establishment of new medical colleges. The medical education regulator notified the changes on May 14 as part of efforts to encourage private sector participation in strengthening the country's medical education infrastructure.
MBBS cheating racket: SIT sets out on hunt for 600 medicos

A SIT of the UP Police is hunting for around 600 people who are suspected to have cleared MBBS with the help of a cheating racket at Meeruts Chaudhary Charan Singh University. A racket was suspected after the arrest of four persons, including three university employees, who revealed that they had replaced the answer sheets of around 150 students of different medical colleges.
