SC grants bail to 17 convicts in 2002 Sardarpura post-Godhra riots case

The SC granted bail to 17 convicts in the 2002 Sardarpura post-Godhra riots case in which 33 Muslims were burnt alive and asked them to relocate to Madhya-Pradesh and do community-service. A bench comprising Chief-Justice S A Bobde and justices B R Gavai and Surya Kant divided the convicts in two-groups and said one-group would move-out of Gujarat and stay at Indore in Madhya-Pradesh.

India's mid-sized money-managers are counting on rule-based mathematical-models to tap a new-breed of investors embracing equities. Tata-Asset-Management is the latest to start a quant-fund. The firm is seeking to expand in a market where industry assets have more than doubled to $378-billion in the past five-years. The fund will be the first in India to use artificial-intelligence and machine-learning to pick-stocks, according to Tata-Asset.

European-Parliament has the right to debate any issue of its choice, European-foreign-ministers' dean and Luxembourg foreign-minister Jean Asselborn has said ahead of the proposed EP debate on draft resolutions on India's CAA. Like in all democracies, the European-Parliament has the right to debate on issues it chooses. It even questions EU member-states on the rule-of-law or political-solidarity, like it did on Poland and Hungary.
