Newly-elected Trinamool Congress parliamentarian Mimi Chakraborty has backed her party-colleague and friend Nusrat Jahan who has been criticised by some Muslim-clerics for wearing vermilion and bangles in parliament. Nusrat Jahan, a first-time parliamentarian and popular Bengali-actress, on Saturday hit-back at the critics saying she represents an "inclusive India". In a post, which she shared on Twitter, Nusrat Jahan wrote that "faith is beyond attire".

Cine stars-turned-MPs of the Trinamool Congress, Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan, raised their first-issue in Parliament. While Mimi Chakraborty sought construction of a flyover in her constituency Jadavpur to deal with traffic-congestion, Nusrat Jahan sought a Kendriya Vidyalaya in her area Basirhat in West Bengal. The two-stars were seated together throughout the proceedings on Tuesday and were mobbed by the media as they walked-out.

Newly elected Trinamool Congress lawmakers Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan were trolled by number of people on social-media for their choice of clothes at the Parliament. However, the actresses found support from many who welcomed the attire change in Parliament where most women-lawmakers are seen wearing sarees. There were many who came-out in full-support as well. One user praised Ms Jahan for her "attitude".
