Taranjit Singh Sandhu Appointed As India's Ambassador To US

Senior diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed as India's Ambassador to the US, replacing Harsh Vardhan Shringla, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday. Mr Shringla is set to take over as the next foreign secretary on Wednesday. Mr Sandhu, a 1988-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is currently posted as High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka.

India preparing to evacuate citizens from China amid Coronavirus Panic

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Tuesday that the government has begun the process to prepare for the evacuation of Indian nationals from the Chinese province of Hubei amid the Coronavirus outbreak. "Our Embassy in Beijing is working out the logistics and is in touch with the Chinese government authorities and our nationals on this matter," MEA added.

Lotus Symbol On Passports Is Part Of Security Feature: Foreign Ministry

A day after Opposition-members in LS raised the issue of lotus being printed on new-passports, the MEA said it was part of the enhanced security-features to identify fake passports and involves using other national symbols as well on rotation. Apart from the Lotus, other national-symbols will be used on rotation. Right now it is lotus and then next month there will be something else.
