Cognizant, HCL Tech may feel the pain of US opioid lawsuits

A bunch of US lawsuits related to opioid painkillers could hurt at least two Indian IT companies, as clients face possible bankruptcy or cut discretionary spending to pay for legal settlements. Forty-eight US states and more than 2,000 local governments have sued drug makers and retailers for being negligent in marketing and distributing opioids painkillers derived from opium which has sparked an addiction crisis.
Everest Region Bans Single-Use Plastic To Reduce Waste On Mountains

Single-use plastics have been banned in the Everest region to reduce the vast amounts of waste left by trekkers and mountaineers, Nepali authorities said. In addition to seeing a record number of climbers this year, a government-led cleaning initiative on Everest the world's highest mountain also collected over 10 tonnes of trash. The region receives over 50,000 tourists every year, including climbers and trekkers.
