
Myntra absorbs Jabong's remaining employees on its payroll

Myntra has announced it will absorb all remaining Jabong employees on its payroll to create a unified workforce. Flipkart-owned Myntra had acquired Jabong for $70 million in 2016. Jabong reportedly had a total of 400 employees in 2018, of which 180 were fired and 100 were absorbed in Myntra after Walmart's $16-billion deal to acquire 77% stake in Flipkart.

About 2.5 million shoppers ordered eight million products during four days of Myntra and Jabong's special sale from December 22 to 25, a company statement said. "The ninth edition of End of Reason Sale concluded with Myntra and Jabong recording a massive surge in sale and traffic," city-based Flipkart-owned Myntra said in a statement.

Walmart, new-owner of e-commerce company Flipkart and its other fashion-brands, will lay-off about 200-employees at Jabong and merge the online fashion-retailer with Myntra, media-reports said. Myntra-Jabong CEO Ananth Narayanan confirmed the news of lay-off but said it was just 10% of total-headcount. Narayanan also said that he will continue to head the fashion portals that are in midst of merger of their back-end functions.
