Nasscom was 3rd biggest tech lobbyist in US in 2019

IT industry body Nasscom was the third biggest spender on lobbying on immigration and advocacy in the US in 2019, as per data from research group Opensecret.org. Microsoft topped the list, pouring $7.8 million on lobbying efforts, followed by Cognizant, which spent $1.7 million. Nasscom spent $510,000, compared to $700,000 in the year before. Nasscom's lobbying spends have risen significantly since 2015.
Nasscom joins hands with VIT to facilitate training

The Nasscom, tech services industry body, has signed a pact with VIT to facilitate training and certification for their students. As part of its ongoing efforts to promote hiring across the industry and ensuring there is a well-equipped and industry ready workforce, Nasscom would showcase the conduct of Assessments and Certification on QP and NOS, said the industry body in a press release.

The move to restrict H-1B visas by successive American governments has led to several US-based multinational companies (MNCs) shifting highly skilled jobs to countries such as India, China and Canada, according to a research paper by an academic. Glennon studied data of H-1B visas issued since 2004, when the US began restricting the number of such visas to be issued to 65,000.
