Anti-CAA protest: Entry, exit gates of Jaffrabad metro station closed

The entry and exit-gates of Jaffrabad metro-station were closed on Sunday after an overnight protest by around 500 people, mostly women, against the CAA and the NRC. The women, carrying the tricolour and raising slogans of 'aazadi', said they would not move from the site till the Centre revoke the CAA. They had blocked road no.-66 which connects Seelampur with Maujpur and Yamuna Vihar.

Assam Officials Allege Email Tampering, Data Deletion In Citizens' List

The officials of the NRC in Assam are likely to ask the centre to launch an independent probe into suspected cases of "wilful deletion" of data and important emails, people with direct knowledge of the matter have told NDTV. A top-official of the Assam NRC said they are unable to check data-security since the passwords of the key emails were not shared with them.

Communist Party of India leader Kanhaiya Kumar accused PM Modi and Union-Home-Minister Amit Shah of trying to drive a wedge between the country's Hindu and Muslim communities by implementing the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act. Speaking at the event, Kanhaiya Kumar asked citizens to keep religious conflicts aside and instead confront the centre on issues such as rising unemployment and poor state of the economy.
