25 Crore People Likely To Participate In Nationwide Strike On January 8

Ten central trade unions on Monday said around 25 crore people will participate in a nationwide strike on January 8 to protest against the government's "anti-people" policies. Trade unions INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC along with various sectoral independent federations and associations had adopted a declaration in September last to go on a nationwide strike on January 8, 2020.

The Indian Medical Association on June-16 announced that doctors nationwide would go on strike in solidarity with their counterparts in West Bengal. All non-essential services will be withdrawn on Monday from 6-a.m., for 24-hours. Only emergency and casualty services will be offered, said IMA. IMA members will also stage a dharna at its headquarters in New Delhi.

Amid the protests across the country over the attack on a doctor at a Kolkata hospital, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has announced a nationwide doctors' strike on June 17 (Monday). The IMA said 3.5 lakh doctors will participate in the nationwide strike on Monday. Earlier, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee gave a 4-hour ultimatum to doctors protesting in the state.
