Muslim woman wearing hijab not allowed to appear for NET in Goa

A 24-year-old woman said officials conducting the National Eligibility Test in Goa didn't let her appear for the examination after she refused to take off her hijab. However, citing University Grants Commission guidelines, an official said, "Not just hijab, even mangalsutra...is not allowed in the examination centre to prevent cheating and also from the security point of view."

A woman has claimed that she was denied entry to her NET examination centre in Siliguri as she was wearing a jumpsuit. She wrote that a teacher at the exam centre "verbally shamed" her for wearing "indecent" clothes. The woman claimed that she was later asked to either change clothes and sit for the exam or miss the exam.
