Prosecutors indict Nissan, Carlos Ghosn, reports say as focus on CEO role

Tokyo prosecutors indicted Nissan Motor along with its ousted Chairman Carlos Ghosn, domestic media reported on Monday, shifting the focus of the financial misconduct scandal to the Japanese automaker and its CEO's responsibility. Ghosn was arrested on November 19 on suspicion of conspiring to understate his compensation by about half of the actual 10 billion yen ($88 million) over five years from 2010.

Nissan board votes to oust Carlos Ghosn as chairman: Report

The board of Japanese auto giant Nissan has voted to remove Carlos Ghosn from the role of Chairman and Representative Director. Nissan said on its website Monday that it will now form an advisory committee to propose nominations from the board of directors for Ghosn's replacement. A separate committee to review Nissan's governance and executive pay is also to be created.

Nissan's investigation into alleged misconduct by Chairman Carlos Ghosn is expanding to include Renault-Nissan finances, sources told a sign that Nissan may seek to loosen its French parent's hold on their global carmaking alliance. Nissan told Renault's board it had evidence of potential wrongdoing at Renault-Nissan BV, Dutch venture overseeing alliance operations under Renault's ultimate control, three people with knowledge of the matter said.
