'Will not alter Article 371 in any way': Amit Shah assures Northeast

Union-Home-Minister Amit Shah, who is in Assam for the first time since the release of NRC final citizens' list, on Sunday assured the people of the state that the BJP "will not alter Article-371" in any way. "Article-371 of the Indian Constitution is a special provision. The BJP government respects Article-371 and will not alter it in any way," said the Home-Minister in Guwahati.

Ramu's father, Umapati Sharma, had migrated from Nepal before India's independence. BJP MLA demands NRC in UP, says intruders have disturbed social equation

BJP MLA from Meerut Satya Prakash Agarwal said that there were lakhs of Bangladeshi immigrants living illegally in Uttar Pradesh which has disturbed the social equation. He has written a letter to the prime minister demanding implementation of NRC in Uttar Pradesh. Satya Prakash Agarwal also said that he has raised this issue before and said that the NRC should be implemented in UP.
