Odisha to clear IOCL's Rs 1 lakh crore investment

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) will invest Rs.1,00,300-crore in expanding its Paradip refinery capacity from 15-million tonnes per annum to 25 mtpa and setting up a naphtha cracker unit. A high-level committee, under CM Naveen Patnaik will be clearing IOCL's expansion proposal on Monday. IOCL will add 10mt capacity to its Paradip refinery, and build a dual feed cracker unit of 3-4 mtpa capacity.

NIT Professor, Wife Kill Themselves In Odisha; Childless, Says Note

An Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Technology and his wife committed suicide at their home in Odisha's Rourkela, the police said today. Rasu Jaybalan taught at the institute's Life Sciences department. "A suicide note was recovered from the spot. It mentions that they were distressed over not being able to have children," SP Rourkela Sarthak Sarangi said on Saturday.

Now, Odisha gets its own Geographical Indication-tagged 'rasagola'

The 'Odisha Rasagola' has been granted a Geographical Indication(GI), recognising Odisha's rasagola as unique to the state. The Chennai-based GI Registry granted the GI-tag, validating Odisha's claim over the sweet as its own. What's unique about the Odisha rasagola is its "soft, sweet-juicy and non-chewy" consistency, that "can be swallowed without teeth pressure" unlike "the circular in shape, milk white and spongy" versions elsewhere.
