With silver Divyansh secures India's fourth Olympic quota in shooting

Beijing-India's 17-year-old teenager Divyansh Singh Panwar Friday secured the country's fourth Olympic quota place in shooting by winning a silver in the ISSF World Cup. Competing in only his second senior competition, Divyansh shot a total of 249.0 in the 10m air rifle event to finish a creditable second in the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup for pistol and rifle shooters.

IOC disqualifies a 2012 Olympic bronze medalist for doping

The IOC disqualified three athletes, including a bronze medalist weightlifter from Azerbaijan, on Friday for doping at the 2012 London Olympics. Valentin Hristov was stripped of his third-place finish in the 56-kilogram class. His positive test for oral turinabol, the anabolic steroid linked to East Germany's doping program in the 1970s and '80s, had been announced in December.

Breakdancing makes next move to Olympic status at Paris 2024

International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach admitted Wednesday that he's a fan of breakdancing's dizzy choreography as the street-wise discipline joined climbing, skateboarding and surfing in getting the provisional nod for the 2024 Paris Games. "There's a very authentic expression, you feel the performance and the personalities of the athletes," said the 65-year-old after a meeting of the IOC's executive committee.'
