Onion prices in India up by over 400% after March

Onion prices in the country have increased by over 400 per cent after March, said Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan in Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The average retail price of onion on December 3, 2019, was recorded to be Rs 81.9 per kilogram in comparison to Rs 15.87 per kilogram in March 2019.
West Bengal To Import 800 Tonne Onions As Prices Near Rs 150 Per Kg

The West Bengal government has placed an order for 800 tonnes of imported onions with the NAFED for delivery by December-end to support the supply of the staple at a fair price, an official said. The state government placed the order at a landed cost of Rs 55/kg at Mumbai port with the NAFED, which has been tasked to distribute the vegetable.
BJP MLA Marshalled Out Of Delhi Assembly Over Onion Price Rise Discussion

Leader of Opposition in Delhi-Assembly Vijender Gupta was marshalled-out of the House and his three-colleagues staged a walkout after their request for a discussion on the steep-increase in onion-prices was turned down by the Speaker today. Mr Goel said Mr Gupta insulted the dignity of the House and ordered that he be marshalled-out when he was adamant to have a discussion on onion-price rise.
