Anti-Terror Bill To Become Law. Government Says No Rights Will Be Violated

An amendment to an anti-terror bill to designate individuals as "terrorists" was passed in parliament today, with 147 votes in its favour and 42 against it. "Terrorism has no religion, terrorists are against humanity; all should support stringent laws against it," Home-Minister Amit Shah said before voting on the bill began. The Unlawful Activities Amendment Bill was already passed by the LS on July-24.

Parliament session likely to be extended till August 7: Sources

The government has decided to extend the Parliament-session till August-7, official sources said on July-25. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, sources said. The government had indicated on July-24 that the ongoing Parliament-session could be extended. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar had said the Opposition has always demanded that Parliament should meet for more number-of-days.

ISRO's Commercial Arm Launched 239 Satellites In 3 Years: Centre

A total of 239 satellites were launched by ISRO commercial arm Antrix Corporation in the last three years, garnering revenue of Rs. 6,289 crore, the government informed Parliament today. "A total of 239 satellites were commercially launched by Antrix Corporation Limited during the last three years. The total revenue from operations during the last three years is Rs. 6289.05 crore," he said.
