BJP leaders meet Sonia Gandhi to seek cooperation in Parliament

BJP leaders on Friday met UPA-Chairperson and senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to seek her party's cooperation in the upcoming session of Parliament, which will commence from June-17. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, along with the Minister of State in his Ministry Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar met Gandhi at her 10 Janpath residence in Delhi.

Newly elected Trinamool Congress lawmakers Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan were trolled by number of people on social-media for their choice of clothes at the Parliament. However, the actresses found support from many who welcomed the attire change in Parliament where most women-lawmakers are seen wearing sarees. There were many who came-out in full-support as well. One user praised Ms Jahan for her "attitude".

Parliament Gets Rs.16.4 Crore Bill For Canteens Run By Railways

Northern Railway has demanded Rs. 16.43 crore from the Lok Sabha secretariat for running four canteens in Parliament where food prices are significantly low during 2017-18, an RTI query has revealed. This amount was claimed as "subsidy claim and establishment cost". As of January 16, 2019, railways had not received payment on these two heads, the RTI reply further said.
