Paytm logs more transactions than UPI-based apps in June

Digital payments platform Paytm on Wednesday said it had registered over 70 crore transactions in June 2019, more than the total transactions done by all UPI-based payment applications, including Amazon Pay, Google Pay, Whatsapp Pay and Phonepe. Paytm has already announced its plans to move away from incentivising P2P transactions and commit the same money towards achieving growth in offline merchant payments.

Paytm and Tencent to invest $100 million in MX Player: Report

Indian digital payment platform Paytm and Tencent Holdings plan to invest $100 million in Indian streaming service MX Player as per a report by Bloomberg. Tencent, the China-based operator of WeChat, has invested in movies and Over the Top (OTT) content in different countries. MX player competes with platforms like Netflix, Amazon and Hotstar in the fast-growing streaming market in India.

Not charging extra for digital transactions: Paytm

Digital wallet Paytm on Monday refuted reports that it is going to charge users extra amount for digital transactions on its platform. We would like to clarify that Paytm app/payment gateway owned by One97 Communications Limited does not charge or levy any convenience/transaction fee from our customers on using any payment method which includes cards, UPI, net-banking and wallet, a company said.
