Pollachi sexual assault case: Lawyers boycott court proceedings

Around 100 advocates affiliated to Coimbatore Bar Council staged a protest outside the court premises urging for court monitored probe presided by a-women-judge. The Pollachi-sexual-abuse incident has triggered widespread protests in state with students and advocates demanding stern action against the accused in case. Speaking to India today TV, Thenmozhi, President of Coimbatore Bar Council, said the investigation in the case must be expedited.

Tamil Magazine Editor Seeks Bail On Sexual Abuse Video "Release"

The editor of Tamil bi-weekly ''Nakkheeran'', R Gopal, has moved the Madras High Court, seeking anticipatory bail in connection with videos that were allegedly released on the Pollachi sexual abuse case. He submitted that the cybercrime wing, acting on a complaint from deputy speaker Pollachi Jayaraman, had registered cases against him under sections including the Information Technology Act.

The trading community here is planning a protest shutdown on Tuesday and a rally demanding a court-monitored probe by CBI in the Pollachi serial sexual abuse-cum-blackmail case, said shopkeeper. Speaking to IANS, trader said that shutdown and rally will see participation of different political-parties and social-organisations. After days of protests by students, political-parties and various other social organisations it was relatively calm on Saturday.
