Air Quality Severe, Thick Haze Over Delhi For The 3rd Consecutive Day

Thick haze engulfed Delhi today as the air quality in the national capital remained 'severe' for the third consecutive day, with mild rain, further adding to pollution woes, authorities said. The Central Pollution Control Board or CPCB recorded an overall air quality index(AQI) of 413. An AQI between 201 and 300 is considered 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor' and 401 and 500 'severe'.

Delhi Air Quality Slips To Severe Category

Delhi's air quality worsened further and slipped into 'severe' category as heavy stagnant air prevented dispersion of pollutants, according to authorities. Supreme Court-appointed Environment Pollution Control Authority chairperson Bhure Lal said they were monitoring the situation and if severe conditions persist for 48 hours then stringent action, as prescribed under the Graded Response Action Plan, would be implemented.

Delhi Records 'Very Poor' Air Quality, With Pollution Likely To Rise

Air quality in Delhi oscillated between the "poor" and "very poor" categories today due to local pollutants as authorities predicted further rise in the pollution level. The Central Pollution Control Board(CPCB) recorded an overall AQI of 314, which falls in the "very poor" category. "It is an ideal time to ascertain the impact of local emissions on the pollution level of Delhi," it said.
