Pragya Thakur Gets Envelopes With "Harmful Chemicals", Files Complaint

BJP-MP Pragya Singh Thakur filed a-police-complaint saying that she received envelopes with poisonous chemicals on them. The police seized 3-4 envelopes from her residence. "We got a complaint from the MP that she had received envelopes with some harmful chemicals in them and we are filing an FIR in the matter," Bhopal Deputy Inspector General Irshad Wali told news agency PTI.

The Congress has started an online petition to urge the ruling BJP to expel Bhopal MP Pragya Thakur from parliament. The appeal, posted this evening on popular petition website change.org, comes amid widespread outrage over the BJP leader allegedly describing Nathuram Godse, Mahatma Gandhi's assassin, as a "deshbhakt (patriot)" during a discussion on the SPG Bill in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Pragya Thakur's days begin early. Yoga is followed by meditation and a two-hour puja in her home temple. Then she switches into "MP mode". At 9.30am, 49-year-old newly elected Member-of-Parliament from Bhopal descends to her living room with the help of an assistant to meet people. She greets them with chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Vande Matram". They repeat after her.
