Show Credits, Titles Of Serials In Regional Languages: Centre To Channels

In a bid to promote Indian languages, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has asked all satellite TV channels to display the casting, credits and titles of Hindi and regional language serials in the respective languages also. This practise tends to deprive people versed with Hindi and regional languages of the valuable information about casting of TV serials or programmes, it said.

NCR's 'poor' air quality days down by 50%: Prakash Javadekar

Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday said the government's efforts to control air pollution have led to a decrease in the number of days with 'poor' air quality in the national capital region (NCR) by about 50 percent in the last four years. Days with 'moderate to good' air quality increased from 108 in 2016 to 159 in 2018, he said.

In the wake of controversy over the recommendation of an HRD Ministry-panel to teach Hindi in non-Hindi speaking states, Union-Minister Prakash Javadekar Saturday clarified that committee had only prepared a draft report and no decision has been taken on implementing it. He asserted that no language should be imposed on anyone. Javadekar is the Union minister for information and broadcasting in the second Modi-government.
