"Concerned About Rising Violence, Disregard For Human Life": Pranab Mukherjee

Former-president Pranab Mukherjee said he was concerned about the "increase in violence" arising-out of differences among people and the "utter-disregard" for human life which is hurting the nation's harmony. The Bharat Ratna awardee said peaceful co-existence, compassion, respect for life, and harmony with nature forms the foundation of our civilization. We must free our public discourse from all forms of violence, physical as-well-as verbal.
Pranab Mukherjee Receives Bharat Ratna, India's Highest Civilian Award

Former President Pranab Mukherjee, will be honoured with India's highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna by President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday. Mukherjee's life-long political career spanned about five decades, during which he held various key posts in the Congress as well as in the governments led by Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, P V Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh.
