BMW named Oliver Zipse as its new-chief-executive praising his "decisive" qualities after the luxury carmaker lost its edge in electric-cars and ceded the premium sales crown to Mercedes under his consensus-seeking predecessor. BMW said Oliver Zipse will become chief executive on Aug-16, picking the 55-year-old manufacturing expert to help the German-automaker make the shift to electric and self-driving cars and tackle-new-competition from technology giants.

Another Chinese Grand Slam champion due in next decade: Li Na

Li Na, China's sole Grand Slam-winner, said that there could be another Chinese Grand Slam winner in the next decade. Li said the move of the WTA Finals to Shenzhen for the next decade will inspire Chinese athletes even if they are not participating. Li is set to be inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport on Saturday.

Captains won't be suspended for slow over-rates anymore: ICC

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given the green-signal to the recommendation of ICC's Cricket Committee that captains in international cricket should not be suspended for slow over-rates. Instead the ICC will now deduct "competition points" and fine the whole team in a bid to reduce the instances of slow over-rates. These new regulations will come into play with the upcoming World Test championship.
