Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy's At Raj Nivas Enters 5th Day

Puducherry CM V Narayanasamy warned his ''dharna'' outside Raj Nivas, for Lt Governor Kiran Bedi's approval for his government's proposals on welfare-schemes and administrative matters, would intensify into a "jail-bharo" agitation from February-20. As his dharna entered the fifth-day on Sunday, Mr Narayanasamy said, "Our protest will continue till our demands, contained in the letter sent to the Lt Governor on February-7, are met."

Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi defended her decision to enforce the helmet rule in Puducherry saying that CM V Narayanasamy's wife had died in a two-wheeler accident as she wasn't wearing a helmet. Bedi added the CM was calling her 'autocratic' for her decision on helmet rule. "He's committing contempt of court...I'm only carrying out my duty," Bedi said.
