Delhi-NCR receives rains, air quality remains 'poor'

Delhi and adjoining areas received light rains on Wednesday morning. Traffic snarls were witnessed at several junctions and major arteries causing trouble for commuters. Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad received light rains. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum and maximum temperatures of Delhi was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius.

Cloudy skies and light rain are expected in areas across the city with subdued rainfall likely for the next few days, officials of the India Meteorological Department said. The officials added that the city was likely to witness a marginal increase in rainfall during the first week of October. No warning on heavy rainfall has been issued in Maharashtra at present.

Heavy rains and snowfall triggered by a western disturbance lashed-several-areas in north-India, including Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Uttarakhand, affecting road traffic. High altitude regions in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand received fresh snowfall disrupting vehicular traffic on scores of lateral roads across the state. The rain and hailstorms caused a sharp dip in temperature in parts of Delhi and its neighbouring areas as well.
