Fuel Stations In Rajasthan To Shut For 24 Hours Tomorrow Over High VAT

Petrol and diesel pumps across Rajasthan will keep their operations shut for 24 hours, starting October 23 to protest against the increased rate of Value Added Taxes or VAT, officials said today. Sunit Bagai, president of the Rajasthan Petrol Diesel Association (RPDA) said fuel pumps located in the border areas are on the verge of shutdown due to increased VAT rate.

In a major reshuffle, the state government on Friday transferred 237 Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officers. Rajiv Jain has been appointed as additional commissioner of the Jaipur Development Authority, Meghraj Singh Ratnu as commissioner of the Jodhpur Development Authority and Rajendra Vijay as secretary and director of Employment Guarantee Scheme, according to an order of the Department of Personnel.
Worrisome, But Cannot Be Stopped: Ex-Rajasthan Minister On Rape Incidents

Former Rajasthan minister and Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker Kali Charan Saraf has slammed the Congress government in the state over the "worrisome" number of reported rape cases and sexual assaults, however adding that "rape incidents cannot be stopped". The remarks come less than a week after a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Shastri Nagar area of Jaipur.
