
Security around Supreme Court beefed up ahead of Ayodhya verdict

Security in and around the Supreme Court was increased on Saturday ahead of the judgment in the politically sensitive Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case, with barricades being put on roads leading to the apex court's premises. A strong posse of security personnel have been deployed around the court complex and vehicles and pedestrians are being subjected to full checks.

Ram temple, Article 370 on VHP meet agenda

The demand for the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya, the proposed citizenship amendment bill, the scrapping of Article 35A and Article 370 pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir and cow protection are among the issues that are likely to come up at the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's meeting in Haridwar on Wednesday and Thursday. The KMM is the highest decision-making body of the VHP.

SC order on Ayodhya should bring peace: Muslim litigant

Iqbal Ansari, son of Hashim Ansari, the main litigant in the Babri Masjid dispute, welcomed the SC move to extend the term of the mediation committee on Ayodhya till August-15 and hoped a final-decision brings peace in the country. "The matter is related to Hindus and Muslims and the court decision should be such that brings peace and tranquillity in the country," he added.
