DoT to oppose spectrum sale of bankrupt telcos

The department of telecommunications (DoT) plans to oppose the sale of airwaves held by bankrupt telcos during the insolvency resolution process, a move that will make Aircel and Reliance Communications less attractive to buyers and hit their lenders. "DoT's view is that this spectrum belongs to the government and it does not come under the definition of property of the telco," said this official.

France waived taxes worth 143.7 million euros to a French-registered telecom subsidiary of Anil Ambani's Reliance Communications in 2015, months after India's announcement of buying 36 Rafale jets, French newspaper Le Monde reported today. Reliance Communications rejected any wrongdoing and said the tax dispute was settled under a legal framework that is available to all companies operating in France.

2 Arrested For Posting Wrong Info On Anil Ambani On Supreme Court Website

Two-former SC employees have been arrested for posting wrong information on court's website that personal appearance of industrialist Anil Ambani was not needed in the over Rs.400-crore Ericsson dues case, which has now been settled. Former assistant registrars of top -court, Manav Sharma and Tapan Kumar, were arrested by the Delhi-crime-branch for allegedly excusing Mr Ambani from personal appearances in the court, sources said.
