Rupee snaps 3-day losing streak; rises 21 paise to 69.70 vs USD

The rupee June 18 appreciated by 21 paise to close at 69.70 against the US dollar as easing crude prices and a weak dollar ahead of the US central bank's meeting helped the currency snap its three-day losing streak. Forex dealers said the selling of the American currency by exporters and gain in other Asian currencies also supported the rupee.

Rupee opens higher at 69.83 per dollar

The Indian-rupee opened higher at 69.83 per dollar on Tuesday versus previous close 69.90. On June 17 local currency fell 11 paise to end at 69.91 against US-dollar on the back of sell-off in domestic equity market amid concerns over trade-worries. Rupee came under pressure but consolidated in narrow-range ahead of the important major central-bank policy statements that will be released later this week.

Rupee opens lower at 69.65 per dollar

The rupee opened 14-paise lower at 69.65 against US dollar. The domestic-currency closed with a marginal rise of 2-paise at 69.51 amid a recovery in the greenback against Asian currencies and foreign fund flows. Rupee on Monday consolidated in narrow range against the greenback as most market participants remained cautious ahead of important GDP numbers for fourth-quarter that will be released later this week.
