Don't Increase Stateless People: Luxembourg Minister To S Jaishankar

Amidst concerns over India's new citizenship act and the NRC, Luxembourg, a European Union member, on Tuesday said it doesn't want to "interfere in the domestic policy" of this country but has asked New Delhi to "do everything" to not increase stateless people. This was conveyed by visiting Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn during talks with his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is in the US for 2+2 dialogue, has shared India's perspective on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's leadership in Washington. Mr Kumar said Mr Jaishankar shared India's perspective on the amended citizenship law with the leadership of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday.

India has a strong political and cultural relationship with Iran where it operates a strategic port, EAM S Jaishankar has said, rejecting reports that Tehran is disappointed at New-Delhi for not buying oil from the oil-rich nation in view of the tough US sanctions. The US re-imposed sanctions on Iran last November, after Trump pulled out of the landmark 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
