ISRO launches Indian earth-mapping and 30 other satellites

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Thursday successfully launched India's Hyperspectral Imaging Satellite (HySIS) along with 30 micro and nanosatellites of eight other countries after a 16-hour countdown. HySIS will help in monitoring pollution from industries, according to ISRO. It will also have other applications in agriculture, forestry, geology, coastal zone study and inland water studies.

India's GSAT-29 communication satellite pushed higher into orbit

India's latest communication satellite, GSAT-29, was pushed further upwards towards its intended spot on Friday morning, the Indian Space Research Organisation said. The satellite's orbit was successfully raised further by firing the liquid apogee motor engine at 10.27 am. for an hour and forty minutes. Thereafter, the GSAT-29's apogee/perigee was 35,837-km and 32,825-km. The satellite takes 22.7 hours to orbit the earth.

Two UK satellites successfully launched by ISRO

On Monday, ISRO's PSLV-C42 blasted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota and injected two UK satellites into a "very precise orbit" 583km above Earth. After a lull of about five months, the launch marked the first of many ISRO has planned over the next few months - 18 more launches are expected by March 2019.
