SC To Decide Validity Of CAA 'Only After Violence Stops'

The Supreme Court on Thursday said it will hear petitions questioning the validity of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as soon as violence which erupts at protests over the legislation stops. A bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and comprising Justices B.R. Gavai and Surya Kant said there is already so much violence involved in the protests.

Nirbhaya case: 3 convicts to file curative plea in SC against capital punishment

Three-out of four convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya-gangrape-case have said that they will use the legal-remedies afforded to them by the law to seek relief from capital-punishment. In their reply to Tihar-Jail-Authority's notice, Akshay, Vinay and Pawan have said that they still had legal-remedies given to them by the Constitution-of-India and will use both of them curative-plea in SC and mercy plea before President.

Muslim leaders, intellectuals meet; say Ayodhya verdict should be respected by all

Several office bearers of top Muslim-organisations, clerics and intellectuals from the community held a meeting on Saturday over the Ayodhya-case, and asserted that the SC verdict should be respected by all. In the closed-door meeting convened by Navaid Hamid, president of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, the participants resolved to maintain peace and harmony at all cost after the verdict in the Ayodhya case.
