Indian Man Sentenced To Over 7 Years In Jail For US Call Centre Fraud

An American federal judge sentenced an Indian man to seven and a half years in prison in an on-going US crackdown on Indian call-centre fraud allegedly extorting Americans. Twenty-three-year-old Sharvil Patel was awarded the jail term and was also fined $80,000 in Tampa, Florida. He was the fourth Indian to be sentenced within two months in the scams.

ED initiates extradition of 4 Sterling promoters

The Enforcement Directorate Monday informed a Delhi court that it has initiated extradition process against four Sterling Biotech promoters in the Rs.8,100 crore bank fraud case. The agency made the submissions before Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora and sought the court's certification of the process against Sterling Biotech Ltd(SBL) promoters Nitin Jayantilal Sandesara, Chetankumar Jayantilal Sandesara, Dipti Chetan Sandesara and Hiteshkumar Narendrabhai Patel.

Journalist who exposed football corruption shot dead in Ghana

Ahmed Hussein-Suale, a Ghanaian journalist, who helped expose corruption in African football has been shot dead in Ghana's Accra. The 34-year-old was part of a team led by award-winning journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, whose investigation led to the resignation of Ghana Football Association head. Kwesi Nyantakyi, the ex-head of the association, was banned for life and fined $500,000 by FIFA.
