The Central government is "100%" responsible for the Delhi violence, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said on Sunday and accused the ruling BJP of playing divisive politics in the national capital after losing the Assembly elections. Addressing the convention of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Pawar also took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his speeches in the run-up to the Delhi polls.

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday hit out at NCP chief Sharad Pawar, saying even "senior leaders" were now spreading misinformation "knowingly" and creating fear and confusion on CAA and NRC. The former chief minister said people don't know much about the citizenship law or the National register of Citizens (NRC).

Reacting to the controversy triggered by Shiv-Sena MP Sanjay Raut's remark that iconic Congress-leader Indira-Gandhi used to meet gangster Karim-Lala, NCP-chief Sharad-Pawar said he shouldn't have made the comment. "We all think he should not have made the statement regarding Indira-Gandhi. But he has withdrawn that statement. Hence I don't want to broach the issue(again)," Mr Pawar was quoted by news-agency PTI as saying.
