Siddaganga seer Shivakumara Swami passes away

Shivkumar Swamiji's, the 111-year-old Siddaganga seer, passed away on Monday morning after age-related ailments. Announcing the seer's demise at Siddaganga, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, flanked by deputy CM G Parmeshwara and Karnataka BJP chief BS Yeddyurappa, said the Swamiji breathed his last at 11:44am and the cremation would be held on Tuesday at 4:30.

Karnataka's 111-year-old revered pontiff Shivakumar Swami of Siddaganga Mutt at Tumakuru recovered from a liver operation he underwent at a hospital in Chennai, an official said. "The pontiff has recovered from the effects of anaesthesia, administered for the liver operation earlier in the day, and is awake in the intensive care unit," said Rela Institute of Medical Centre Chairman Mohamed Rela in a statement.
