Domestic e-commerce firms oppose extension of Feb 1 deadline

Domestic online retailers like Snapdeal and ShopClues have opposed the extension of the February 1 deadline for implementation of revised FDI policy on e-commerce. "An immediate...implementation of [revised policy] is important to ensure growth...of India's small businesses," Snapdeal Co-founder Kunal Bahl said. E-commerce platforms Amazon and Flipkart had sought for an extension of the deadline.
ShopClues' 1st offline store to open in Lucknow next month

Even as rumors about a potential sale of ShopClues to a larger e-commerce player abound, the company is set to enter the brick-and-mortar segment after having raised about $10 million from existing investors. ShopClues will open its first offline-store in Lucknow next-month, where it will feature its private labels and products in categories across fashion, accessories and entry-level smartphones, cofounder Radhika Ghai said.
