On 30th anniversary, China says Tiananmen crackdown was 'correct' policy

China on Sunday defended the bloody Tiananmen crackdown on student protesters in a rare public acknowledgement of the event, days before its 30th-anniversary, saying it was the "correct" policy. After seven-weeks of protests by students and workers demanding democratic change and end of corruption, soldiers and tanks chased and killed demonstrators and onlookers in the streets leading to Beijing's Tiananmen Square on June-4 1989.

Indian-Origin Man Set Off Diwali Fireworks At 3 AM In Singapore, Jailed

An Indian-origin man in Singapore has been jailed for three weeks and fined 5,000 dollars for setting off fireworks close to a housing complex during Diwali celebrations in the country last year. Jeevan Arjoon, 29, bought the firecrackers from Little India shopping precinct and unlawfully lit them at 3.30 AM on Diwali night on November 6, 2018, The New Paper reported on Friday.

Singapore Suspends Boeing 737 MAX Flights After Ethiopia Crash

Singapore's aviation regulator Tuesday banned the use of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in the country's airspace following a deadly Ethiopia plane crash at the weekend. The Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 went down minutes into a flight to Nairobi Sunday, killing all 157 people on board, months after a Lion Air jet of the same model crashed in Indonesia killing 189.
