Three Arrested For Smuggling Gold Biscuits Worth Over Rs 3 Crore: Police

The DRI has arrested three people for allegedly carrying about 10 kg gold worth over Rs. 3.87 crore smuggled into India through the Indo-Myanmar border, an official said on Tuesday. Zomuankima, H Rualsangpuia and Lalneihlaia, from Mizoram's Aizwal, were taking the smuggled gold bars from Aizawl to Kolkata, he said. Further investigation is on to unearth the kingpins of the smuggling racket, he added.

6 Indians Arrested In Sri Lanka For Smuggling Gold Worth Over Rs 1 Crore

Sri Lankan officials have arrested six Indian-nationals at an-international-airport for attempting to smuggle gold worth over Rs. 1.7 crores, the police said. They were arrested by Sri Lanka CID officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, the police was quoted as saying by the Colombo Gazette. Four Indian-nationals were arrested at the departure terminal of the Katunayake airport with 1.06 kilograms of gold.

Indian Smuggled Foreign Nationals Into US For Years, Gets 10 Years In Jail

An Indian national has pleaded guilty to the charges of smuggling Indians as illegal immigrants into the United States. Pleading guilty before a New Jersey court on Thursday, Bhavin Patel, 38, said he did this for private financial gain. He faces a maximum potential sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to USD 250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for July 9.
