Silver futures slump Rs 344 per kg on weak global cues

Silver prices fell by Rs 344 to Rs 46,248 per kg in futures trade on September 19 as investors trimmed their positions amid subdued demand tracking weak trend overseas. Silver contracts for December delivery traded lower by Rs 344, or 0.74 percent, to Rs 46,248 per kg in a business turnover of 2,238 lots on the Multi Commodity Exchange.
Govt issues ordinance to ban e-cigarettes

The Government issued an ordinance to ban e-cigarettes making the production, import, export, transport, sale or advertisements of such "alternative" smoking devices a cognizable offence attracting jail term and fine. First time violators will face a jail term of up to one year and a fine of Rs.1L. For subsequent offences, a jail term of up to three years or a fine of Rs.5L.
Ignoring protests, Gates Foundation to give Modi global award

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will be awarding the Global Gatekeepers Award to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership in India's achievement sanitation, the organisation has announced. Modi is being recognised by the foundation in New York on September 24 for the Swachh Bharat Mission of which the constructions of toilets is a key element.
