Government to approve power tariff policy soon: R K Singh

The government will soon approve the power-tariff-policy which would provide for a penalty for unscheduled-power-cuts by distribution companies from April-1, Power Minister R K Singh said. "The proposal for tariff policy ready and will soon go for Cabinet approval. The policy provides for penalty for unscheduled power-cuts except in case of technical-faults or act-of-God (natural calamities)," Singh said during an interaction with media persons.

Indian researchers have unveiled a first-of-its-kind bus an autonomous vehicle powered by solar energy. Globally, most autonomous vehicles developed till date are powered by petrol, diesel, CNG or charged using grid-based electricity. Therefore, this Indian innovation has a double-advantage. The bus can run for 70-km on a single charge. The prototype has been made on an entirely new chassis and has cost only Rs.15L.

Shapoorji Pallonji hires ICICI Securities for IPO of solar biz

Shapoorji Pallonji Group has hired ICICI Securities Ltd to take its solar engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) business public, two people aware of the matter said. The solar EPC business is housed under the group's flagship company, Sterling and Wilson. Mint reported in July that the group was considering an initial public offering (IPO) of the business.
