A group of astronomers have identified the farthest known object ever discovered in the Solar System, nicknamed 'Farout'. The object, provisionally termed '2018 VG18', is 120 astronomical units (AU) from the Sun. "Because 2018 VG18 is so distant, it orbits very slowly, likely taking more than 1,000 years to take one trip around the Sun," astronomers said.

Residents of the northern hemisphere, look-up: In the faint shimmy of a star above you, astronomers have discovered evidence of an alien world. The proposed new planet is unlike anything in our own solar system, the researchers say larger than Earth but smaller than Neptune, and far enough from its dim, red sun that any water on its surface is locked away in ice.
