16-year-old Aryaan becomes 1st Indian tennis player to flunk dope test

Aryaan Bhatia has become the first Indian tennis player to fail a dope test and has been provisionally suspended, National Anti-Doping Agency said. The 16-year-old's urine sample was taken during Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship in Delhi last year. All Indian Tennis Association Secretary General Hironmoy Chatterjee claimed the banned substance entered Aryaan's system from a prescribed medicine.

Former champions Saina Nehwal, Parupalli Kashyap and Sourabh Verma advanced to the semifinals of the 83rd Yonex-Sunrise Senior Badminton Nationals in Guwahati on Friday. Saina will face 22-year-old Nagpur qualifier Vaishnavi Bhale, while Kashyap will face Lakshya Sen. The 26-year-old Sourabh Verma will meet qualifier Kaushal Dharmamer of Mumbai.
