Government sanctions Rs 7.87 crores as allowance for Khelo India athletes

The Sports Ministry has sanctioned Rs 7.87 crore as out-of-pocket allowance for 2,625 Khelo India athletes training in 99 Khelo India academies and other centres across the country. These athletes were selected to train in various sporting disciplines under the Khelo India Talent Development Scheme, which is a grassroot level talent identification and nurturing endeavour of the government.
Deepak Punia becomes fourth Indian to qualify for Tokyo Olympics

Reigning junior world champion Deepak Punia on Saturday became the fourth Indian to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics after moving to the 86kg finals at the World Wrestling Championship in Nur-Sultan. Competing in his maiden senior World Championship, Deepak locked the quota after prevailing 7-6 in a tense semifinal against Colombia's Carlos Arturo Mendez.
IOA blames NADA for suspension of dope testing laboratory

The Indian Olympic Association on Friday lashed out at the National Anti-Doping Agency for the suspension of the country's only WADA-accredited laboratory, saying NADA's "mistakes" have jeopardized the anti-doping programme. The World Anti-Doping Agency(WADA) suspended the National Dope Testing Laboratory in Delhi for six months "due to non-conformities with the International Standard for Laboratories(ISL)". The NADA can appeal the suspension in the next 21-days.
