Second Scorpene Submarine May Be Commissioned This Year: Navy Chief

India's second Kalvari-class Scorpene submarine is expected to be commissioned into service by September-October this year, Navy chief Admiral Karambir Singh said today. He was interacting with reporters on the sidelines of an international seminar on shipbuilding. For submarines like EKMs (Russian made Kilo-class), the Navy is going for MRLC (Medium Refit with Life Certification), he said in response to a question.

The Navy rubbished Pakistan's claim that it stopped an Indian submarine from sneaking into its territorial-waters. "Indian Navy remains deployed as necessary to protect national maritime interests. Over the past several-days we have witnessed Pakistan indulging in false propaganda and spread-of-misinformation," Navy said in statement, hours after Pakistan released a purported-video of what it claimed was an Indian submarine trying to enter its territorial-waters.
