A gold plated assault rifle was Pakistan's gift to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman during his visit to the cash-strapped country last week. It was his first official visit to the country that was facing pressure from various countries following a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama that led to the deaths of 40 CRPF personnel.

Preparations are in full swing for the two-day national convention of the BJP's Kisan Morcha beginning in Gorakhpur from February 23. It will be inaugurated by Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP chief Amit Shah, while union home minister Rajnath Singh will preside over the valedictory function on February 24. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address the farmers' rally on Sunday.

Assam is for indigenous people and sons of the soil will continue to rule the state in future, CM Sarbananda Sonowal said. Mr Sonowal was speaking at a festival of Mishing tribe in Assam's Dhemaji district. "No outsider can take the upper hand undermining the locals... The sons of the soil will continue to rule the state in the future as well," he said.
